The Science Faculty
Since Science has such a pivotal role in everyday life it is vital that all pupils have an appreciation and understanding of the science that underlies everyday phenomena and technology. It is the intention of the faculty for pupils to encourage awe and wonder at the natural phenomena around them and to be inquisitive in exploring the principles that control such phenomena and technology.
Scientific thinking develops in the pupils the ability to solve problems by thinking rationally, analysing and evaluating data skills that will be useful in the wider world.

Key Stage 3
The emphasis in this key stage is to encourage enjoyment of the subject whilst developing practical skills safely. The learning happens through enquiry work that develops both their skills and their knowledge and understanding. In year 9 there is the opportunity for pupils to sit their first modules of the GCSE Science course.
Key Stage 4
The intention in key stage 4 is to provide the education which is most suitable for the needs of the individual pupil. Firstly to ensure that the most academically able are given the opportunity to develop and to follow careers in Science. It is also important that everyone has the fundamental knowledge and understanding to allow them to make decisions in an increasingly science and technology dominated world on the basis of evidence. And further that the majority have the knowledge and understanding to use and control technology. The following courses are available:
-
GCSE Chemistry
-
GCSE Biology
-
GCSE Physics
-
GCSE Double Award Applied Science
-
GCSE Science
-
GCSE Additional Science Single Award
